Trip Overview

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is an amazingly beautiful trek that takes you high up in the Himalayas followed by a visit to the sacred lakes of Gosaikunda. This trek offers you the beautiful experience of the pristine Langtang valley, impressive Himalayan landscape, Langtang valley, sacred Gosainkunda lake along with the opportunity to explore the Tamang and Sherpa villages along the way.

The trek begins from Syabrubesi and follows through thick rhododendron and Kyanjin Gompla, a Sherpa village in the Langtang valley and then across the Lauribina la pass to the holi lake of Gosaikunda. Next our course follows through the villages of Helambu and finally to Sundarijal and Kathmandu.

Trip Itinenary

  • Day 01

    Arrival in Kathmandu

    Upon arrival at the airport our guide/representative will meet you and transfer to your designated hotel. As there are no activities planned for today, you may either enjoy the evening at leisure or take a self guided tour around the tourist market of Thamel.

  • Day 02

    Kathmandu Sightseeing

    Today in the first half of the day we will  visit some of the major UNESCO World Heritage sites, this includes the Swayambhunath temple, the oldest Buddhist monument in the valley and Boudanath, the largest Stupa in Nepal. Next we will drive to Kathmandu Durbar Square, situated at the heart of the ancient city of Kathmandu, full of ancient history, culture and architecture.  Later in the evening we will spend planning and preparing for the trek.

  • Day 03

    Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1450m/7-8hrs)

    Today we drive to Syabrubesi the starting point of our trek.  The drive is quite scenic along banks of Trishuli river with beautiful views of valleys, meadows, rivers and mountains.

  • Day 04

    Trek to Lama Hotel (2380m/6hrs)

    Today the trail goes along the Langtang river across forests of oak and rhododendron, verdant meadows and several Tamang villages, stunning vista of great Himalayan peaks and finally ascends through Rimche and end at Lama Hotel.

  • Day 05

    Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3430m/6-7hrs)

    We begin with a gentle ascend above the Langtang Khola but soon turns into a steep climb.  The trail goes through rhododendron and pine forest with view of the Langtang Lirung and further up to the meadows of Ghoda Tabela.  Further on, the route opens up into a wide valley of yak pastures and scattered Tamang villages with water-driven mills and prayer wheels.

  • Day 06

    Langtang Village to Kyanjing Gompa (3870m/3-4hrs)

    We pass through the tiny village, stone-built houses and up to a Chorten on a gentle path to Kyanjin Gompa. After lunch we could either choose to rest or visit the monastery, cheese factory and explore around the village with beautiful views of Langtang Lirung, Kyanjin RI, Tserko RI, Langshisha Ri, Yala Peak and others.

  • Day 07

    Excursion to Tserko Ri.

    After breakfast, trek for about five hours to summit Tserko Ri, the summit of Tserko Ri provides amazing views of the  Yala Peak (5,520m), Langtang Ri (7,205m), Langtang Lirung (7,227m) and Naya Khang (5,844m).  After enjoying the splendid views around we descend back to Kyanjin Gompa for overnight.

  • Day 08

    Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel.

    After breakfast retrace our hike back to Lama Hotel. The trail is mostly downhill past forest and villages with great scenic view.

  • Day 09

    Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2260m/6hrs)

    Today we descend gently down to the river and through beautiful pine and Junipers forests and then it is a steep uphill climb to Thulo Syabru. Thulo Syabru is a beautiful Tamang village that has preserved the ethnic custom, culture and tradition of the Tamang people.

  • Day 10

    Syabru Village to Sing Gompa (3330m/5-6 hrs)

    Leaving Thulo Syabru, it is a steep ascent with beautiful views of the Langtang and the Ganesh himal. The trail continues uphill trough forests of Oak, Hemlock and rhododendron to the top of the ridge at Phoprang danda. From here we trek on across the ridge and finally ascend to Sing Gompa.

  • Day 11

    Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda (4460m/6-7 hrs)

    Today we start with a steep climb up to a ridge with great view of the Langtang Lirung himal. The trail to Lauribina la pass is a steep  trial over harsh mountain surrounding. After walking three hour or more we finally reach the Lauribina la pass. We take a short break at the pass and continue to a small ridge where we get the first view of the holy Gosaikunda lakes. There are altogether 11 lakes around the Gosaikunda basin, thousands of pilgrims visit this like every year during the holy festival of Janai Purnima.

  • Day 12

    Gosaikunda to Gopte (3440m/7 hrs)

    After witnessing the beautiful sunrise view along with the panaromic view of the Himalayas, we retrace our step back to Lauribina la pass. From here it is a steep descent over a rough trail with some up and down on several stretch to Ghopte.

  • Day 13

    Ghopte to Tharepati (3640m/5-6hrs)

    From the ridge at Ghopte, the trail descends and ascends several times across ravines and rocks and then ascends through rhododendron, oak and juniper forest to Tharepati. From Tharepati,

  • Day 14

    Tharepati to Gul Bhanjyang (2140m/5hrs)

    We descend through fir and rhododendron forest with beautiful views of snow capped peaks until Kutumsang and then finally to the charming village of Gol Bhanjyang.

  • Day 15

    Gul Bhanjayang to Chisopani (2134m/5-6hrs)

    From Gul Bhanjyang we ascend to Thodang Betini and then a gradual walk to Chipling. Next we descend down to Pati Bhanjyang and after a few hours, we will arrive at Chisopani.

  • Day 16

    Chisopani-Sundarijal (4hrs)-Drive to Kathmandu (1hr)

    Today we begin with a gentle climb to a ridge and then descend down through the forest to Sundarijal. At sundarijl hop in to the waiting vehicle and drive to Kathmandu.
